Tyson
Tyson is a Cyclops, a son of Poseidon, and Percy Jackson's half-brother. Known for his simplistic nature, immense strength, and heart of gold, he is a skilled blacksmith and currently serves as a General in Poseidon's army of Cyclopes.

Character Overview
Introduction
Tyson is a young Cyclops who initially appears to be a homeless child in New York City. He attends Meriwether College Prep with Percy Jackson, where he is bullied but befriended by Percy. It is later revealed that he is a "baby" Cyclops. Despite his intimidating appearance and immense strength, Tyson is incredibly gentle, sensitive, and emotionally intelligent. He has a deep fear of Grover Underwood initially (due to the smell of satyrs) but they become close friends. He is fiercely loyal to his brother Percy and his friends.
Parentage
Tyson is a son of Poseidon and a nymph. This makes him Percy Jackson's half-brother. Unlike demigods, Cyclopes are considered "accidents" or lesser children by many gods/monsters, but Poseidon shows care for Tyson, claiming him openly at Camp Half-Blood.
Abilities and Skills
Cyclops Physiology
- Superhuman Strength: Tyson possesses immense physical strength, far exceeding that of humans or demigods. He can rip metal doors off hinges and catch heavy objects with ease.
- Fire Immunity: Like all Cyclopes, he is immune to fire and heat.
- Enhanced Senses: He has keen hearing and smell (especially for monsters).
- Voice Mimicry: He can mimic voices perfectly, a trait he uses to trick enemies.
Craftsmanship
As a Cyclops, Tyson is a natural mechanic and blacksmith.
He works in Poseidon's underwater forges and has crafted delicate and powerful items, including a wristwatch-shield for Percy.
Combat
While he prefers not to fight, Tyson is a formidable warrior when his friends are threatened. He uses his brute strength and a club in battle.
Role in the Series
The Sea of Monsters
Tyson plays a major role in The Sea of Monsters. He accompanies Percy and Annabeth on their quest to retrieve the Golden Fleece. During this journey, he proves his worth and loyalty, saving the group multiple times. At the end of the book, he goes to work in Poseidon's forges.
The Battle of the Labyrinth
Tyson returns to help Percy navigate the Labyrinth. He is instrumental in finding the lost god Pan (mostly by supporting Grover) and fights in the Battle of the Labyrinth.
The Last Olympian
In the final battle against Kronos, Tyson leads a contingent of Cyclopes to aid the demigods. His arrival turns the tide of the battle against the monster Typhon (partially), and he is appointed a General of Poseidon's army.
Relationships
Percy Jackson
Percy is initially embarrassed by Tyson but quickly grows to love him as a brother. They share a close bond, with Tyson often worrying about Percy's safety.
Annabeth Chase
Annabeth initially dislikes Tyson due to her past trauma with Cyclopes (who killed Thalia). However, Tyson's bravery and kindness eventually win her over, and she kisses him on the cheek in The Sea of Monsters, signifying her acceptance.
Ella
In The Heroes of Olympus, Tyson enters a romantic relationship with Ella, a harpy. He is very protective of her.
