Hazel Levesque

Introduction

Hazel Levesque is a Roman demigod daughter of Pluto, the Roman god of the underworld and riches. She is one of the Seven Heroes of the Prophecy of Seven. Hazel was born in the early 20th century but died in 1942 to prevent Alcyoneus from rising. She was resurrected decades later by her half-brother, Nico di Angelo, and brought to Camp Jupiter.

Early Life

Hazel was born in New Orleans in 1928. Due to her mother's wish for wealth, Hazel was born with a curse: precious metals and gems would surface around her, but they would bring bad luck to anyone who took them. She was coerced by Gaia to raise the giant Alcyoneus in Alaska but sacrificed herself to delay his rising.

Geokinesis (Curses)

Hazel has a unique form of geokinesis. She can sense and manipulate precious metals and gems beneath the earth. Initially, this was a curse, but she eventually learned to control it and use it as a weapon.

Mist Manipulation

Hazel has a natural affinity for magic and the Mist, a talent she developed under the tutelage of the goddess Hecate. She can create powerful illusions, alter perceptions, and even manipulate the labyrinth.

Combat Skills

Hazel is a skilled swordswoman, trained in the Roman fighting style. She rides the legendary horse Arion, the fastest horse in the world, into battle.

The Son of Neptune

Hazel befriends Percy Jackson when he arrives at Camp Jupiter with amnesia. Along with Frank Zhang, they go on a quest to free Thanatos in Alaska, where Hazel confronts her past and defeats Alcyoneus.

The Mark of Athena

Hazel joins the crew of the Argo II. She plays a key role in finding Nico di Angelo and helping the Seven escape various threats using her developing powers over the Mist.

The House of Hades

Hazel's role becomes even more critical as she learns to manipulate the Mist to defeat the sorceress Pasiphaë and the giant Clytius. She accepts her magical potential and becomes a formidable sorceress.

Frank Zhang

Hazel is in a relationship with Frank Zhang, a son of Mars. They bond over their shared sense of being outcasts and their complex family histories. They are fiercely protective of each other.

Nico di Angelo

Nico is Hazel's half-brother (Greek counterpart). He rescued her from the Fields of Asphodel, giving her a second chance at life. They share a close sibling bond and understand each other's connection to the Underworld.

Sammy Valdez

In her first life, Hazel was in love with Sammy Valdez. When she meets Leo Valdez, Sammy's great-grandson, she is initially confused by their resemblance but eventually comes to see Leo as a distinct friend.
